Passion Projects

Hi guys this page is all about my Passion Projects I’ve got two projects ones all about what’s the difference between a Cheetah and a Jaguar and the other is all about dinosaurs  about all the different calls for different dinosaurs and when they first were created and when they got extinct. I really hope you will enjoy it when it is complete go to go for now bye for now. Hi guys its Passion Project Time Im going to start with whats the difference between a Cheetah and a Jaguar but first read this about what cheetahs and jaguars are…

Whats a Cheetah?

The fastest land animal in the world, the cheetah is a marvel of evolution. The cheetahs slender, long-legged body is built for speed. Cheetahs are tan in colour with black spots all over their bodies. They can also be distinguished from other big cats by their smaller size, spotted coats, small heads and ears and distinctive ” tear stripes ” that stretch from the corner of the eye to the size of the nose.

The Cheetahs Diet

Cheetahs eat mainly gazelles, wildebeest calves, Impalas and smaller hoofed animals.

DID YOU KNOW?

When cheetahs  are

running they use their

tails to steer i n the direction

they want to go   like the rudder of a boat.

Population

In 1900, there were over 100,000 cheetahs across their historic range. Today an estimated 9,000 to 12,000 cheetahs remain in the wild in Africa. In Iran there are around 200 cheetahs living in small isolated populations.

Behavior

Found mostly in open and partially open savannah, cheetahs rely on tall grasses for camouflage when hunting. They are diurnal ( more active in day ) animals and hunt mostly during the late morning or early evening. Only half of the chases that last from 20 – 60 seconds are successful.

So thats a cheetahs life but what about Jaguars well your going to find out but first a quick experiment…

As Fast as a Cheetah?

Are you as fast as a cheetah? Well heres how you can put your speed to the limit

What you do is go outside and pick 2 lines quite far away but not to far then get at least 7 people to play them pick one to be the one who says beap then go to one line that will be your starting line then get the person who’s not going to race then get them to say beap then ran as fast as you can to the other line and keep on going try get to the line before the person says beap again, just remember the cheetah will always get there before you do.

Well hope you try out the game so heres some Jaguar facts for you…

  1. Hi Estelle,

What a wonderful idea for a passion project. I enjoyed reading your information report about the Cheetah. I would really like if you wrote one about the jaguar and then compared the two.

    Keep up your great work.
